Driving Tours of Old Yarmouth

Picture
Picture

This adventure takes you all over Yarmouth pointing out our oldest  churches.

As you drive through Yarmouth, established in 1639, you will be surrounded by buildings built by those early settlers, many still occupied today.

The south side of Yarmouth, known by the Pawkannawkut Indians as Mattacheese, was land held by them until smallpox wiped them out. David Kelley bought land from the last surviving Indian, Thomas Greenough about 1730.

This adventure takes you back to a time when hourses pulled carts, candles were the only source of indoor light and story telling was the favored entertainment.

Most of what you will see was built in the 1700 and 1800's and came about during our great maritime era.
