Cape Cod Baseball League
In 2002, the Cape Cod baseball league took the field for its 117th summer season. The league provides its fans with competitive baseball entertainment while allowing the top players in the country to display their skills in the purest forms. The League boasts well over 180 alumni now in the majors and 500 alumni in the minors. The amateur talent in the Cape League is second to none. The lists of major leaguers who have spent summers on the diamonds of the cape include: Tino Martinez, Frank Thomas, Jeff Bagwell, and 1997 American League Rookie of the Year Nomar Garciaparra.
The Cape League is recognized as one of the elite amateur summer leagues in the country by colleges, as well as professional baseball. Players from around the USA and from all college divisions are recruited to play in the ten-team loop.
Seeing your favorite team is never a problem. The teams are located in Bourne, Brewster, Chatham, Cotuit, Falmouth, Harwich, Hyannis, Orleans, Wareham, and Yarmouth-Dennis. The Cape League relies on the communities for their support. From housing and jobs for the players, to volunteer work within the League itself, the League could not enjoy its growing success without a total team effort. The hard work by each franchise pays off, as the ultimate reward is to see the stars of tomorrow take the field on cape cod today.
