The Yarmouth Chamber of Commerce announced the winner of the #ShopYarmouth Gift Basket on Sunday, December 20. Elizabeth Slevin, a teacher at the Nathaniel H. Wixon Innovation School in Dennis, happily accepted the gift basket valued at over $600 on Monday afternoon.
The gift basket was stuffed to the brim with several items donated by local retail shops and attractions, including a $100 gift card to Adrene Jewelers, $25 gift card to Agway, a Family 4 Pack of One Day Passes to the Cape Cod Children’s Museum and Cape Cod Inflatable Park, a beautiful nautical beach bag donated by Cathy’s Place, an Annual Family Membership to the Cultural Center of Cape Cod, a $50 gift certificate to Harvest of Barnstable, merchandise from Mrs. Mitchell’s Gifts, a $25 gift certificate to True Value, a bird feeder donated by Wild Birds Unlimited, a beautiful silver necklace donated by The Silver Unicorn, and a $25 gift card to the Optimist Café in Yarmouth Port.
2015 marked the first year the Yarmouth Chamber of Commerce organized the #ShopYarmouth campaign; the contest was geared toward encouraging shoppers to purchase gifts locally starting on Small Business Saturday through December 20. Entering the contest was easy- take a photo of your shop local purchase, like the @yarmouthcapecod Facebook page and post the photo to the page using the hashtag #shopyarmouth. “Overall, we had a pretty good response, but I think if we continue to run the campaign each holiday season it will pick up more momentum. The feedback I received from the retailers was very positive, and the shoppers seemed really excited about the potential of winning such a large prize,” said Kara Boulé, Marketing & Communications Director at the Yarmouth Chamber. “As an organization, we’d like to thank the retailers that donated items for the gift basket. Without their support, this project would not have been successful and we are so thankful for their participation and enthusiasm.”
